What to expect from a first session
A plain-English walkthrough — what we'll talk about, what we won't, and what you don't need to prepare.
First sessions are usually less dramatic than people imagine. There's no couch. You won't be asked about your mother in the first ten minutes. Mostly we'll talk, and I'll listen carefully — to what you say and to what you almost say.
The shape of the hour
We'll spend a few minutes on practicalities — confidentiality, frequency, fees — and then the rest is yours. You can bring a specific issue, a vague sense that something's off, or both. There's no wrong way to begin.
After the session
Some people feel relief. Some feel raw. Both are normal. We'll meet again the following week at the same time and start to build the rhythm. Therapy isn't a single conversation; it's what happens between conversations, over time.
If this landed for you, the next step is a conversation.
